A BILL FOR AN ACT TO AMEND THE ADMINISTRATION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE ACT, 2015

Be it enacted by the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as follows:

1. The Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015 (in this Bill called the “Principal Act”) is amended as set out in this Bill.
2. Section 15, subsection (4) of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the word “may” and substitute same with the word “shall”.
3. This Bill may be cited as the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015 (Amendment) Bill, 2018.

EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM

This Bill seeks to amend the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015 to make mandatory, the electronic recording of confessional statements of suspects.
